Are deer aggressive?

I'm new to a suburban neighborhood which has a lot of deer in the wooded trails where I walk. Are they safe? Are they aggressive? Sometimes they've run off, but sometimes they just stand there %26amp; watch me.


It's pretty intimidating to come across them, but they're such beautiful creatures. Is it safe to pet them if they even let me get close enough?Are deer aggressive?
They can be aggressive during rut season if you seem a threat to the male, but wild deer are so rare to attack a person that it's ridiculous, they are more scared of you than you are of them. I would be more concerned about coyotes than deer. I wouldn't pet them though, they can kick and rear.Are deer aggressive?
Don't pet any wild animal......!!!!! don't pet any domestic animal that you do not know!!!!!





oh and deer can be aggressive...especially big bucks in the rut........most of the time they will run away...we have lots of deer around were I live...we will put some food out by the edge of the woods and they will eat that...but never hand feed a wild animal!!!
they are scared to death of humans. if they aren't immediately running away, the are ';caught in the headlights'; freaking out. i guarantee that you wont be able to get close enough to touch em, thats how afraid of you they are.
Deer, like pretty much any wild animals, are dangerous when frightened. The bucks are especially dangerous because of antlers. Petting any wild or feral animal is a bad idea, no matter how tempting it is.
Do not pet them. Getting them accustomed to human contact will only write their death warrent during hunting season.





I would be careful during mating season for stags, otherwise, they are not dangerous creatures.
Deer will typical run instead of fight but if they decide to fight they are dangerous and can kill you. DON'T try to pet any wild animal!!.





You should be safe if you get scared make a loud noise and they should run off.
A rutting buck can be aggressive, but deer attacks aren't common. They can hurt you if they are cornered. If they can run away they will. I wouldn't advise trying to pet them. Best to let them be wild.
Never attempt to pet wild animals! A deer can do serious damage and will if threatened.
No on the petting sorry. They are generally not aggressive creatures. But i wouldnt pet them
only if they feel that you're threatening their family
