Hey hunter's could you help me? It's about deer hunting-?

What do they mean a Spike? Like they said 'that way we have a chance to take out the spikes' so what do they mean?

Thanks!!!Hey hunter's could you help me? It's about deer hunting-?
It's a 2 pointer. It has two spike antlers coming out of it's head. It hasn't grown a full rack yet.Hey hunter's could you help me? It's about deer hunting-?
more than likely they were talking about a yearling buck who's rack is not mature or it could be a mature buck who's genetics ain't the best in the world

this is what one looks like:

[each buck in each pic is at a different age, so how the rack 'forms' depends on the deer's genetics]

to clear things up, (how someone else said that deer have horns..)

bucks do not have horns, they have antlers

horns don't 'fall off', antlers do (major difference between horns and antlers)
actually, it can have only one spike, or two. It is simply a straight horn with no branches or tines off it at all. East coast would refer to this as a 2 point, west coast calls it a spike.

Shoot safe
The first year (or two at times) of a male deer's life, he grows two little antlers that look like spikes coming out of his head. This can be simply the time of year he's born, etc but it can also be a reflection of poor diet (mast) or a genetic thing, but in the wild, the fittest males (biggest racks) get all the girls! Many states have different rules for harvesting ';spikers.';
1st of all I thought all Texans were (well rednecks) able to identify any type of game and all the nomenclature. Sorry, for the sterotype, a spike is a deer with only 2 points or spikes, and no branches off them.
Like everyone else said, but a spike is not always a spike, like someone else said. They were just born late. There have been spikes held fenced in that have grown to over 300 inches. The once a spike always a spike is just a myth.
As all above have stated.

Remember the movie BAMBI

Bambi was a FAWN (new Born)

The became a SPIKE (Adolescent)

Finally a BUCK or STAG (Full Grown Deer)
Picture the Devil with two (2*) Horns coming out of his head, that's what a Spike Buck looks like.*
a spike is a 1-1 1/2 year old buck with 1-10 inch spieks coming out if its head
A Spike is a Male deer that has 2 horns, typically a young buck.
a deer with just a spike instead of points it just has 2 points
like mark said it's just 2 Straight antlers coming from the deer head about 1'; to 9'; even bigger
Mark is right but let me add that a ';true spike'; will always be a spike. Bad genetics.
The deer is a two pointer. it has to little antlers coming out they look like spikes
Straight horn/antler on a deer [buck].
