Don't limit yourself to new and expensive firearms. Older military surplus rifles are an attractive alternative. Mosin Nagants, Enfields and Mausers are three relatively inexpensive rifles that, when used with the correct hollowpoint rounds will be more than adequate.


These rifles start at under a hundred dollars in excellent shape and all should be capable of better accuracy than is needed. One drawback is you may have to spend a few more dollars on a scope setup if that is what you want.


The most important thing is to practice with the rifle until you are proficient and safe at all times, no matter what type or caliber.
hi, there are a lot of reliable rifles for less than 800. you can go back to basics with a lever action rifle like the Marlin 336. Very nice shooting and very reliable. Hell, they've been using them for over 100 years. You can find them for as little as $350-800 depending on the finish and stocks and materials. If you don't mind shooting without a scope for a while, a remington 700 is good. you can find them from $450-1500 depending on the model. Check out the these pages

Any rifle that has a Caliber of 243 or more. I preffer the 243 and 270's because they are less than 800 dollars, and are all you need... Seriously, you don't need a 30-06 to hunt deer, I personally preffer the Browning 243 X bolt stalker rifle, good power, all you really need...
