im 14 and i bought a blind and a 12 gauge for deer and turkey and i have alittle camo but its small what should i get that wont cost a fortune but will work.. what other accessories should i get thanks for the help..Turkey and Deer Hunting?
When hunting deer with a shotgun you need to be wearing your orange so camo doesn't really help or hurt. I hunted deer for years in duck brown coveralls and still do on really cold days with my orange vest over top.

When it comes to turkey you need a long sleeve camo shirt, camo matching pants. Camo face net, camo fanny pack, slate caller and two strikers. Camo Gloves. Small flashlight. I go cheap and buy a camo sock for my 11-87 so I don't have to put camo tape on it. Pump shotguns are harder to camo. Don't forget the bug spray and you are ready to go. Don't worry about decoys at first. I have shot plenty of turkey without a decoy. Oh and buy a tape on learning to make a turkey call with your slate. That is very important in luring the toms in.Turkey and Deer Hunting?
If you have a ground blind, and are planning to hunt solely from the blind, you don't need camo. What you need are clothes that are dark, or better yet, black. You should not be letting a lot of light into your blind anyway, and should remain in the darkest corner of the blind. If your state has a blaze orange requirement, then obviously you should get some blaze orange to fulfill those requirements.

As for accessories, make sure you have a sharp knife, and a compass. Both are important for overall hunting success. A deer call (grunt tube is a great place to start) and some sort of turkey call are important to have as well. The type of turkey call (box, push button, slate, diaphragm, etc.) depends on what you want and what feels most comfortable to you. Save up some money and go to a sporting goods store just before turkey season starts. Most stores will have demo models that you can try out, and find which call you like best. Decoys (deer and turkey) are not as important, but still useful.
You need full camo top to bottom even if you are in the blind......and wear orange camo for deer and if required for turkey. There will be plenty of times you may need camo on getting to you blind or going home that camo will help you when facing some turkey or deer. You should read your State hunting laws for details. You should of done scouting by now and see where the game are moving and when. Use some natural brush around your blind and make sure of your wind direction. Deer scents are good for deer and scent killer as well. The key to success is a spot where the critters move around or feed such as a field with grain or a food plot if legal. A turkey call would be handy if used properly.

  1. Great tip on how to find the right turkey call box, I never would have thought of going down just before the season to check them out. I usually try to buy off season so the prices are a little better. Great work on the post.
