Shooting deer?

I have an old .22. I need to shoot deer. Where is the best place to shoot them to kill them. Too often i end up wouding them and chasing for hours.Shooting deer?
right behind the shoulder is the vitals, type that question under images on a search engine and it will show you. but put the 22 away, thats going to do nothing but hurt deer and ruin the deer herd. get a bigger gun.Shooting deer?
your main problem is the caliber gun you are using. it is not meant for big game and i recomend you don't shoot deer with it.





i personally like bow hunting but for gun season i use my 12 ga with slugs





for a rifle i like 243, 25-06, .....





keep the 22 for squirels
First of all you need a hunting license. If you had a license than you'd know better than to use a 22 to shoot a dear.
Shoot them right in the eye or between the eyes. A head shot is your best bet with a .22.
a .22 is probably not the best weapon to use. A weapon that uses a 30-06 will knock the hell out of the deer, we aim in the lower neck, above the shoulder.

I don't know of any State in the Union where it is legal to shoot deer with a .22 Rimfire. That includes the .22 Magnum. In fact, any .22 (rim or centerfire) is a bit light for deer. The minimum deer caliber is the .243 Winchester with a good 90+ grain (100 grain is much better) hunting round. Stay away from bullets 80 grains or lighter in .243; these are VARMINT rounds, not deer rounds.





If you have been shooting deer with a .22, indubitably you've been shooting them at close range. If this is the case, then even a decent .30-30 Winchester or .44 Magnum carbine will serve you well for deer hunting.

You have a good question here.





For starters using a .22 for deer hunting is illegal as it is too small of a calibre for big game. Using a .243 or higher will get the job done. I personally use a .30-06 and in the past few years of using this firearm I have had a handful of deer run less than 100yards and drop.





Now with that said their are a few good places for shot placement.





Vital organs: If you aim just behind the front shoulder blade you will hit the lungs and heart and will be a quick clean kill.





Head/neck shot: This will be a good instant kill if done right. break its neck or hit the skull plate and it will be a quick clean kill. But this is also a shot that can be screwed up too. I've had several clean kills this way but I've also screwed this shot up too. I'd only reccomend this if you know your rifle and can shoot VERY accurately.





Spine shot: I had some shots where i broke the deers back and was instantly killed. Only problem with this is it can ruin the backstraps some of the best meat eh.





But the main thing is you need to know your firearm, shot placement and be accurate in your shooting. Being accurate is key. I would say shoot for the vitals cause they will go down regardless might be right where you shot or 150yards but regardless they will go down shortly if you aim for the vitals

If you're using a 22, you better go for the head or heart or get a decent rifle for deer hunting.
Take a hunting safety class, practice at the range, and get a gun ment for killing deer. No decent person goes out hunting with the intention of causing an animal to suffer for hours due to pathetic marksmanship. Watch an outdoors/hunting chanel for tips.
Use a bigger caliber. .243 or higher.
Its illeagle to shoot deers with a .22 you should use a real rifle not one made for varmits and plinking.
a 22 is not for deer, get a deer gun..kind of cruel to shoot a deer with a 22...why no use a BB gun go for the eye it will cause an infection and the deer will die

Why would you want to kill a innocent animal, that's just my opinion, i never cared for hunting, i mean i know there was a time when people done it for food and fur to keep warm, but now people do it to have a deer head to put on their wall or because they just want to kill, and those people suck
